Customer Profile
According to St. Thomas University (2019), the perfect consulting practice occurs when vision, values, urgency, and authority meet. Educational Equity serves those deeply concerned with inequities present in public education. We are visible experts who command influence with a specific target audience by employing visibility and expertise in a given area (St. Thomas University, 2019). The issue of equity in education has been a persistent focus of educational reformers since the landmark Supreme Court Case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. The movement to desegregate schools, reform finance models, and hold districts accountable for inequities has historically faced intense challenges. Educational Equity is uniquely qualified to consult with schools, communities, and districts interested in improving educational equity.
Why Us?
Social unrest surrounding racial injustice, civil liberties, and the inequities highlighted by the pandemic, have resulted in an influx of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts (Hall, 2023). There are multiple consulting agencies dedicated to the work of equity in education. However, the longevity of the Educational Equity’s work, all of which predated 2015, coupled with proven leadership in education, equity, and innovation makes them a more authentic advocate in education.
The school equity movement is generally understood in three waves: national, state, and local waves of activism (Hernandez, 2020). The current wave of activism is focused on local activism (Hernandez, 2020). This expert seeks to target local districts, organizations, and individuals seeking innovative solutions to increase educational equity for historically underserved communities. While specialized, this consultant thrives on making personal connections that lead to systemic changes.

Our Clients:
The term equity in the educational context has evolved to mean a quality education for all citizens, seeking to develop the maximum potential of the individual’s social, intellectual, and emotional capacities (de los Santos et al, 2020). These goals are to be accomplished through equality of access and based on the shared efforts of the entire education community.
May 2024 marked the 70th anniversary of the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. Despite the advances spawned by the Brown decision, Black students are more than twice as likely to attend high-poverty schools and are often exposed to adverse conditions in school (Darling-Hammond & Darling-Hammond, 2024). Community factors including a lack of access to clean water and air, high crime rates, food insecurity, and inadequate healthcare and social support systems all contribute to educational outcomes and achievement gaps (Darling-Hammond & Darling-Hammond, 2024; de los Santos et al, 2020). For these reasons, Educational Equity targets clients active in the diverse facets of community redevelopment and improvement.
Students thrive when they are healthy and safe, learning in classrooms designed to motivate, inspire, and engage them while supporting perseverance and social justice. Given the inequitable funding models in the United States, the pursuit of educational equity must be done in conjunction with other community organizations.
Our ideal client is focused on improving educational equity and outcomes for students of color, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and marginalized communities.
